Who is CLICKCOACH?

CLICKCOACH.org is an ambitious nonprofit project aiming to document, host, and share information from the classical, jazz, and musical theater communities, creating an entirely unique database of musical discussions about works and topics in these disciplines—and with a crucially important component: giving musicians a platform to create revenue with their knowledge.

As a result of the COVID-19 pandemic our music communities are at a near complete standstill, leaving hundreds of thousands in the music industry out of work. We as a nonprofit organization have stepped in to help our community.

Our nonprofit has begun collecting, categorizing, and publishing video content—recorded by you in our music communities from wherever you are in the world—in what has the potential to be the largest aggregate of accessible, peer-reviewed, and informative video content in our industry. It’s a public collective and everyone 18 and older in the classical, jazz, and musical theater communities is invited to contribute. This is a documentation project with the important benefit of supporting each other financially.

Each video goes into our online library and can be rented for 30 days for $1.99/video and with no subscription requirement. We then forward nearly 75% of the rental price directly back to the artists or towards an artist fund that is used for various good causes—depending on what you, the video uploader choose.

In addition, a percentage of every video rental goes directly towards supporting low-income, underprivileged, and socioeconomically disadvantaged groups. Each year CLICKCOACH also donates towards other 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations specialized in helping artists.

Who makes the videos?

Singers, conductors, instrumentalists, stage directors, musicologists, early music specialists, diction coaches…the list goes on and on. The goal is to build an aggregate of information from different perspectives and from every level to grow and support the music and music-appreciating communities in the form of insightful videos which generate revenue.

From the highest level professional to the young artist with a wealth of things to say, we all have unique perspectives and experiences to share, which become an invaluable resource when collected and made available worldwide. We want to document this and we want everyone sharing their knowledge and experience.

A resource for musicians, students, and everyone

Most of us hop online these days when researching hoping to find anything related to a musical work, sifting through more unhelpful information than not and rarely finding good video resources on what we need. We often spend our research time just looking for resources.

With CLICKCOACH, insightful and informative content in video form is being documented daily and made accessible in one location—clickcoach.org. Musical works are broken down into specialized videos, each video focusing for ten to fifteen minutes on one section of a work—a single movement, an aria, one chorus from a requiem, and so on. Alternatively, a video may discuss an instructional topic.

What makes this resource even more valuable is that you will find multiple videos on a single work, all by different artists with unique perspectives. Imagine studying a concerto and being able to get insight from a soloist, a conductor, and a musicologist—each person bringing a unique skill set and one-of-a-kind experience to the table. It’s the perfect resource for delving into a work or a music-related topic and learning things you might have never known or considered. All in one place. All for a charitable cause. All while supporting your music community.

Get involved

This nonprofit project is a big deal. Nothing like it exists and support is pouring in from around the world. How do you get involved?

Rent videos. Each video contains even more than the insightful information in it. Your rentals support artists with proceeds going either directly to the artist who created the video or towards other great causes tied to our CLICKCOACH Assistance Fund. The artist decides.

Create videos. Yes, you! If you’re in the classical, jazz, or musical theater worlds, you can (and should) contribute by helping us expand this amazing aggregate of information. Imagine sharing the things you’ve learned—at whatever level you are—with others who can really gain something from you. You simply documenting your perspective is its own way of giving. When you make a video, you can choose:

Create videos to earn revenue for yourself. Educational value aside, one pillar of our purpose is to help artists create revenue with videos as a way to support themselves or others. We talk with people every day who have lost their contracts for the next year or more, people who are furloughed from their once stable positions, and people who are trying to get a foot into the music world when all the doors are currently closed. Let us provide a system of support for you—no gimmicks. We’re a charitable organization specialized in this…created for this. Creating videos with a payout to you of nearly 75% per video rental can add up quickly if we work together.

Create videos to help others. We are a community. We support each other in concert halls, opera pits, classrooms, and stages as a part of who we are. If you want to show your support, consider making videos and forwarding the proceeds from your videos to the CLICKCOACH Assistance Fund. Our fund helps us run our organization and keep a high percentage payout to artists. It is also applied directly to other nonprofit organizations who specialize in direct payments to artists in need. In other words, without spending a dime your video support can create a continuous donation flow which helps so, so many people.

Make a financial donation. There’s no way around it. A nonprofit organization—especially one with our mission—needs the generosity of others to make all of this possible. If you’re reading this and thinking ‘what a great cause’ then please click on our donation link and give what you can using a simple credit card form. We also think this is a great cause!

Helping low-income, underprivileged, and socioeconomically disadvantaged groups

An important element of the arts community is sharing and giving. Since we too are musicians here at CLICKCOACH, we understand this innately and we believe it’s important to share what we have with organizations who might normally have less access to resources like CLICKCOACH.

We start by taking 1% of every sale and forwarding that to in-need groups. This might be at-risk youth programs offering music education, organizations who help refugee musicians, or other groups who could benefit greatly from extra financial support.

Secondly, we look at how we can make our vast library of information more accessible to groups with financial challenges, such as low-income music students, retirement communities, or community centers and we work with them to make our content accessible.

If your organization fits within one of these categories or you would like to find out more, either check in with our application announcement page regularly or contact us through our contact form and tell us how we might be able to help.
